Jura

Nestled in between Switzerland and Burgundy, the Jura region produce some of the most thrilling wines. Much like Savoie, these were often overlooked in the past and only enjoyed on Alpine holidays, but due to a trend in 'natural wine' styles they have been lovingly thrust into the limelight. It is most famed for the oxidative Vin Jaune, which is produced from the indigenous grape Savagnin, and once in barrel, a layer of yeast is allowed to form furnishing it with its extraordinary character. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay thrive very well in the cool climate and offer an excellent alternative to Burgundy. One producer on top of his game is Jean-Francois Ganevat.
