The South American geography, particularly that of Argentina and Chile with its high altitude, consistent heat and natural irrigation forms a blissful climate for European grape varietals to thrive. Chile produces stunning high end Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot which has seen rise to some cult wines like Almaviva, a synergy between Concha y Toro and Mouton Rothschild formed in 1996. Similarly in Argentina we have seen Chateau Cheval Blanc combine forces with Terrazas De Los Andes to form Cheval des Andes as well as Baron Rothschild and the Catena Family to create Caro in the foothills of Mendoza.
