Tasting Notes
Vinous 87-89
Medium ruby. Crushed blueberry, violet and spices on the nose. Then sweet and suave in the mouth, with a peppery, herbal quality that lifts rather than penalizes the wine’s dark fruit flavors. Finishes with broad tannins that don’t come off as hard.
Robert Parker 86
Tasted blind at the Southwold Bordeaux tasting. The 2012 Château La Couspaude has a slightly muted bouquet compared to its peers: blackberry, leather and earthy notes, but it remains stubbornly sultry. The palate is medium-bodied with light tannin, chocolaty and here, the oak overwhelms what fruit there is. This is a bit disappointing. Tasted January 2016.
