Tasting Notes
Vinous 94
The 2011 Charmes-Chambertin has a wonderful tension and saltiness to it. Layers of blue and purplish fruit open up in the glass, followed by suggestions of orange peel, white pepper and spices that add attractive elements of exoticism. The tannins need a bit of time to soften, but the Charmes is impressive, even today.

According to Pierre Rovani, the 2011 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru comes from one of Remoissenet’s own holdings that were originally planted with “Pinot Fin†clones by no less than Pierre Dugat. This is a blissful Charmes-Chambertin that ranks alongside the 2012 and might even surpass it. The nose is utterly seductive and extremely pure with lavish red berry fruit and subtle notes of dried flowers. The palate is blessed with a velvety-smooth texture counterbalanced by a fine line of acidity from start to finish. There is a bit of swagger about this Charmes Chambertin ” just a beautiful wine that comes highly recommended. Drink 2015-2025+ In February, Pierre-Antoine Rovani and Bernard Repolt trekked over to London to present a range of both recent and older vintages for their UK importer, Averys. If anyone needed convincing that Remoissenet can truly deliver at the top level, then one needs go no further than the stupendous Charmes-Chambertin 2011 that is among the best I have encountered with respect to that vintage. Perhaps with such a large portfolio of crus, gems likes these can get lost in the flurry of reviews, but they can only serve to enhance their reputation among Burgundy cognoscenti.
