Robert Parker 88
The 2009 Baron de Brane is also a strong effort. Fashioned from a completely different blend (58% Merlot and 42% Cabernet Sauvignon) with higher alcohol (13.4%), it is a sexy, seductive claret meant to be consumed during its first 7-8 years of life. (Tasted once.)
Anticipated maturity: 2010-2018
The 2009 Baron de Brane has a light, slightly dusty bouquet that needs more fruit to come through. The medium-bodied palate offers dark plum, hoisin and gravelly notes and light tannin. The straightforward, soft finish suggests that this should be consumed in the near future. Tasted at the Brane-Cantenac vertical at the château.
Anticipated maturity: 2018-2020
